What kind of material is fleece and how is it made?<\/h1>\n

Fleece is traditionally understood as the wooly covering of a sheep, but today it refers to an industrially produced, vegan fabric with a soft surface. The softness that we all love and know so well is due to the special manufacturing process. Fleece is not woven, but knitted, on large machines. The resulting fine-meshed yarn loops are cut open and then ruffled, which ultimately makes the surface of the fleece fabric so cosy and soft.<\/p>\n

Traditionally polyester is used in the production of fleece. Polyester is a synthetic fibre that has become indispensable in the textile industry due to its easy-care and warming properties. Our fleece products<\/a> are also made of polyester, but only 65%. The other 35% in our fleece blankets and fleece pillows are made of viscose<\/a>, which is a natural fibre made from wood. This special blend of materials gives our fleece products an outstanding quality, both visually and in the hand feel: the surface is reminiscent of a cashmere-like handfeel.<\/p>\n

How can you recognise
\nhigh-quality fleece?<\/h1>\n

MATERIAL<\/h2>\n

High-quality fleece is usually always made of blended fabric and never 100% polyester. Blended fabric makes fleece products softer and also ensures that it remains soft after washing. When buying fleece products, this is the first criteria to look for when looking for high-quality fleece. Often cotton is added to higher quality fleece products. At ‘zoeppritz since 1828’ we use viscose because it surpasses cotton in many ways: it absorbs moisture better and is therefore more hygienic, it is temperature regulating, does not stretch and also offers a perfectly even thread for flawless finishing.<\/p>\n

PROCESSING<\/h2>\n

In addition to the material composition, another determinant for high-quality fleece is the processing of the product. High-quality fleece products, such as ours, do not show any pilling. These can also be called anti-pilling fleece products. With cheaper fleece products, you can often see small, matted balls on the surface of the fabric before washing, an effect which is intensified during use. This not only looks unattractive, but also reduces the insulation capacity and durability of the product. Since 1828, we have focused on quality and therefore also on fleece products that retain their shape, colour and properties even after repeated washing.
